Exploration of HVAC system sizing based on building performance simulation and Monte Carlo method

This study uses the Monte Carlo method and building performance simulations to develop an additive model for rapid peak load forecasting at design phase that considers effects of parameters. The generates numerous simulation cases EnergyPlus software is used calculations. Specifically, a total 20 parameters were considered analysing calculations, including day conditions, envelope performance, infiltration, etc. An office was selected as reference building. With screening experiments standard regression coefficient, it identified there are 15 important cooling in perimeter zones 7 core zone. Main interactions determined by factorial 40,000 runs zone 1,287 between loads. Finally, validation additional 1,000 shows coefficient determination 0.995, with mean bias error 3.2%, variation 3.7%, which indicated developed had high accuracy.
